Bio:

Shiree Houf is a wearable artist and costume designer who crafts larger-than-life creations that spark wonder, delight, and imagination. A 2023 World of WearableArt finalist, her Captain King Midas shimmered on the international stage, introducing the Gold Section in the collectable program. A Highball Halloween vet and Greater Columbus Arts Council grant recipient, Shiree is conjuring couture magic for theatre, dance, drag, burlesque, and daring individual performers, as well as community arts projects. With an MFA in Design from The Ohio State University and a BA in Theatre from Miami University, she blends whimsy, drama, and storytelling into wearable art that lingers in memory long after the lights fade.

Artist Statement:

My process blends experimentation with intentionality: I explore unconventional materials, playful textures, and bold colors, often layering humor and narrative into each design. I delight in the unexpected - kitsch, camp, and wordplay all serve to evoke joy, curiosity, and wonder, inviting audiences to linger over the details and stories hidden in each stitch.
